Our third date landed on Saturday night,
A band was playing, and things felt just right.
Given how the first two dates went rather fast,
I figured, well… perhaps this one might last.
But when you arrived, I caught the look in your face—
Like my jeans and my hat had disgraced the whole place.
I could practically hear your thoughts loud and clear:
“A dress would’ve been better… but okay, she’s here.”
You called us an Uber, which felt rather sweet,
Off we went through the night, two hearts in the backseat.
We got to the venue, the music was loud,
We wandered around in the buzzing crowd.
Then suddenly, somehow, you vanished from sight,
For quite some time—was this part of the night?
You finally returned with a story to tell,
About who you had met while I wondered, “Oh, well…”
I smiled and I listened, pretending I cared,
While quietly wondering where the hell you had disappeared.
But soon came the moment when the night reached its end,
And back to my place we went, lovers—or friends?
We cuddled together, all cozy and sweet,
For one little moment, the night felt complete.
Then you headed away with the dawn on your mind,
“Early morning plans,” you said, being perfectly kind.
But somewhere between goodnight and see you again,
I felt something shift—and I knew where we’d been.
Because somewhere that night, without warning or fuss,
You started to drift from the track that was us.
So cheers to the third date, the jeans and the hat,
The Uber, the band, and all of that.
We started with chemistry, laughter, and heat—
Then somehow got lost somewhere down the street.
