The party gathered with a furious roar,
Still counting the votes from the night before.
They swore they’d move forward—then slammed on the brake,
And vowed that each setback was someone else’s mistake.
They promised to help, but whenever bills came,
They shouted, “Objection!” and dodged every claim.
A plan for the roads? “It’s a terrible scheme!”
A plan for the schools? “Too expensive a dream!”
They filibustered breakfast, obstructed the stew,
And held a press conference on what they would do.
They drafted a platform, impressive and grand—
Then misplaced the pages beneath the bandstand.
The nation had potholes, the bridges were bent,
The budget was shrinking, the patience was spent.
But they stood on the sidelines, remarkably spry,
Explaining why progress should never get by.
“We’re fighting for freedom!” they proudly proclaimed,
While blocking each measure that someone else named.
They praised compromise in a serious tone,
Provided that compromise matched their own.
They claim victory still,
while blocking each effort with remarkable skill.
The country needs action, but they’d rather impart…
A speech, a complaint and a dramatic news chart.
